As April continues to press on throughout Waterloo Region, one of the biggest Spring staples has arrived once again, with the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival up and running Saturday.
The local festival is marked in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest single-day maple syrup festival, expected to welcome upwards of 80,000 visitors before the event comes to a close.
“There’s an abundance of exciting things to do when you visit Elmira in the spring,” the festival said.
“From family-friendly activities to delicious treats and unique local experiences, there’s truly something for everyone at the festival.”
While it’s a great day for food-lovers and those looking to give a warm welcome to the Spring season, the event also marks a big boost for the community.
“All festival proceeds are donated into the community, supporting local not-for-profit organizations, clubs, and charities,” the festival said.
It previously said that much of the proceeds go towards local grants, in particular, saying that, since 1965, over $1.85 million in total grants have been given out in the region.
The Elmira Maple Syrup Festival is set to kick off with its early pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 11.
Many of the events throughout the day will run through until 4 p.m.
