If residents across Waterloo Region have green bins that are run-down, damaged, or are simply taking up too much space, the Region of Waterloo is continuing to hold a series of community drop-off events over the coming weeks.
It comes after new black and green waste collection carts were handed out as the region switched to its new collection system earlier in the year.
“Residents are encouraged to reuse their old green bins for storage, but if they cannot be used, dropping them off at the community events or the Waste Management sites will ensure they are recycled,” the region said.
“For those who can’t make it out to an event or the waste management sites, place the bin at the curb on bulky item collection day with a ‘garbage please take’ sign taped to it, and it will be collected.”
The full list of remaining events includes:
- April 18, 9 am-1 pm: Breslau Community Centre (Parking Lot)
- April 19, 9 am-1 pm: Wellesley Recreation Complex (Parking Lot)
- April 25, 9 am-1 pm: Wilmot Recreation Complex (Parking Lot)
- April 26, 9 am-1 pm: Cambridge Farmers’ Market (Parking Lot)
- May 2, 9 am-1 pm: Activa Sports Complex (Parking Lot)
While the events will be on the go on weekends throughout the course of April and into the first weekend of May, it also said residents can drop them off at either of the region’s waste management sites.
Those are located at 201 Savage Dr. in Cambridge and 925 Erb St. in Waterloo.
The full details on the region’s updated waste collection program and the community green bin drop-off events can be found on the Region of Waterloo’s website.
