KITCHENER FIRE DEPT. – Shortly after 12:16 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, Kitchener Fire responded to a structure fire on Wilfred Avenue.
Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke venting from the building, along with significant fire conditions on the main floor.
Firefighters brought the fire under control and completed a search of the structure.
The building was undergoing renovations at the time of the incident and was unoccupied. The fire spread has caused extensive damage.
Kitchener Fire’s investigation team will attend later this morning to begin determining the cause of the fire.
There were no occupants in the building, and no injuries to civilians. No residents have been displaced
WRPS – Waterloo Regional Police responded to residential fire in Kitchener.
On May 22, 2026, at approximately 12:15 a.m., emergency crews responded to reports of a house fully engulfed in flames on Wilfred Avenue.
The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The fire was extinguished by the Kitchener Fire Department.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing with the Office of the Fire Marshall.
