An investigation is underway through Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) after a “hate-motivated” assault in Waterloo.
Officers said reports first came in Sunday, Apr. 5, at around 2:35 a.m., after calls came in of a possible disturbance at a business in the area of King Street North and Columbia Street East.
“The investigation determined that a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and a group of approximately six unknown males,” WRPS said in a release.
“The altercation escalated, and the group assaulted the victim before fleeing the area prior to police arrival.”
The victim is said to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident, with police determining the incident to be hate-motivated.
Regional police are now searching for those six men in question, saying they fled the scene in two vehicles: a black Acura SUV and a white Honda Civic.
No details or descriptions have been provided on those suspects, with officers now asking that anyone with further information on the men or the incident call WRPS at 519-570-9777 or provide details anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
