In what’s been a continuing trend throughout Waterloo Region, an investigation is now underway following another distraction theft, this time in the parking lot of a Costco location in Waterloo.
Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) said the incident happened Monday, Apr. 6, just after noon at 12:20 p.m., in the Costco parking lot on Erb Street West.
Officers said an 85-year-old man was approached by an unknown man and woman, who engaged the victim in conversation.
During that discussion, police said the woman was able to remove a necklace that the victim was wearing before the two suspects left the area in a white SUV.
No injuries were reported from the incident, but officers are now looking to identify and find those two suspects in question.
Anyone with information on that particular case of distraction theft or any other similar incidents is asked to reach out to WRPS.
