For the second week in a row, gas prices have taken a dip in Waterloo Region, with the latest shaving as much as 10 cents off the price of regular gasoline.
The details come from Canadians for Affordable Energy, which show that those prices dropped by as much as 10 cents at midnight on Thursday, May 28.
It means the average price for regular gasoline sits at $1.73.9 per litre, but will fluctuate between gas stations depending on where residents decide to fill up.
The latest drop comes just one week after those prices dropped by 9 cents back on May 22, and is now the lowest those prices have been throughout Waterloo Region since May 14.

Those consecutive drops now mean that the price is below the average between 2024 and 2025, when those prices sat between $1.80 and $1.90 per litre.
Experts say that, while the market still remains fairly unstable and unpredictable, output shifts in oil refineries to make up for the global impacts of the war between the U.S. and Israel against Iran have led to the brief dip in prices.
However, they don’t predict those prices to remain low for very long, as the war continues to rage on and, more specifically, as the summer travel season inches closer and closer.
Many predict that, with drivers expected to be on the roads at an increased rate, the demand and thus the price of gas will continue to climb.
