Waterloo Regional Police are investigating an incident that resulted in property damage to a business in downtown Kitchener.
On July 20, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., police received reports of a possible gunshot in the area of Ontario Street South and King Street West.
The incident resulted in damage to a bus shelter and the front window of a nearby business. Patrol officers, members of the General Investigations Unit, and the Forensic Identification Services Unit attended the scene.
The investigation determined there was no evidence that a firearm had been used. Further analysis by Forensic Identification Services concluded the damage to the business window was caused by a low-velocity projectile.
A significant police presence remained in the area while officers conducted their investigation and ensured public safety.
The investigation remains ongoing.
