As the Region of Waterloo continues its work on a new roundabout on the edge of Kitchener and North Dumfries, drivers are being warned of a significant closure now in place in the Fischer-Hallman Road and New Dundee Road area.
With stage one of the work already completed, the second stage of that roundabout construction kicked off this week, closing the north side of that intersection: Fischer-Hallman Road between New Dundee Road and Plains Road.
It’s all part of a nearly $3M project that includes asphalt removal and replacement, additional street lighting, curb and gutter improvements and more.
The current, stage two closure is expected to extend through to Sept. 18.
Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detour, which will be moving traffic between New Dundee Road and Huron Road via Trussler Road.
Stage three of construction is expected to bring a closure on the south side of the intersection of Fischer-Hallman Road and New Dundee Road, including a detour for eastbound traffic on New Dundee Road. That work is expected to wrap in November, though the region warns that timing may be impacted by a number of factors with updates provided where possible.
