According to Canadians for Affordable Energy, gas prices are expected to drop by as much as 9 cents overnight, dipping to an average high of $1.78.9 per litre.
It’ll make the steepest drop seen in weeks across Waterloo Region, following the heightened demand of the summer travel season and the ongoing hostilities in the war between the U.S. and Israel against Iran.
Experts are saying that this particular drop is being caused by the industry’s annual changeover from summer to winter gasoline, which will typically lead to lower production and wholesale costs.
While it’s set to bring some smiles to the faces of residents using regular gasoline, motorists who rely on diesel are set for a rougher start to the weekend, as prices are trending in the opposite direction.
Canadians for Affordable Energy is predicting that diesel prices will also change by 9 cents overnight, but as opposed to gasoline, the average high will climb up to $2.45.9 per litre.
In any case, with major changes at the pumps expected before the weekend, it’ll be important for residents to keep those fluctuations in mind when deciding whether to shop early or wait for Friday before filling up.
