Advance voting has officially wrapped up in Cambridge, but with a week to go until election day, residents will now have a better outlet to have some of their election concerns, questions, and challenges answered, as the city launches its expanded online voting hotline.
The expanded hotline is designed to “clarify what is needed to vote online and ask any questions,” with residents also able to call to confirm their voter status and ward or schedule in-person voting assistance.
“We want to support voters in using our online voting system and ensure everyone has the opportunity to vote securely online or in person this election,” said Jennifer Shaw, City Clerk and Director of Legislative Services.
“As advance polls are now complete, we want to make sure residents can get answers quickly and feel confident participating in this year’s election either online or in person at their local poll on October 26.”
Residents can access that hotline by calling 519-513-6415 between Monday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Cambridge advance voter turnout
Alongside details of the online voting hotline, the City of Cambridge has also released details of the voter turnout seen during its wave of advance voting.
According to the city, 6,213 ballots were cast across the city, which included 2,273 votes at the polling stations directly and close to 3,000 votes cast online. That’s on top of an additional 757 who are still registered to vote online but have yet to do so.
The city stated, though, that even though it saw positive numbers regarding advance voter turnout, it still “hopes to see an increase in overall voter turnout in 2026.”
“Municipal elections have a direct impact on the services and decisions closest to home,” said the City of Cambridge in a release.
“The City is responsible for many of the services that impact everyday life, including roads, parks, recreation programs, fire services, and planning decisions. Voting is your opportunity to help shape the decisions that affect your neighbourhood, community, and city.”
Members of the community who are registered to vote and have received their voter information card can vote online from anywhere with an internet connection until Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. through the city’s online voting website.
Residents who choose to vote in person on election day, Monday, Oct. 26, should be sure to bring identification showing their name and Cambridge address.
