Regional police are sharing details on two mid-morning arrests made earlier this month in the City of Cambridge, as part of an “ongoing crime suppression effort” that saw drug trafficking charges laid.
The first was on July 7 as officers out on proactive enforcement allegedly spotted a man “engage in drug trafficking” around 11:15 a.m. in the Mill Creek Trail area.
That 34-year-old man was arrested, with police seizing an unspecified quantity of suspected hydromorphone. He has since been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
It was just two days later on July 9 when officers on patrol spotted another man allegedly engaged in drug trafficking around 10:10 a.m. in the Ainslie Street North area.
Officers were able to arrest that man, seizing suspected methamphetamine and oxycodone as well as a slingshot with metal ball bearings.
In that case, a 59-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, as well as Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.
Both men were held in custody for a bail hearing.
