Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is searching for a suspect who has been seen photographing homes and lawns in Kitchener ahead of reported break-and-enters.
Police said they’re pushing to find witnesses and possible video footage related to reported break-ins in the area of Deer Ridge and Newbury Drive on Aug. 15.
While few details have been provided on those incidents themselves, WRPS has released a photo of a man that investigators are looking to speak with, who was seen in the Deer Ridge neighbourhood at around 11:30 a.m.
“The individual was seen walking through the area, taking photographs of homes and yards,” said WRPS in a release.
Police have described the individual as:
- White male
- Approximately 40 years old
- 5’10” to 6’ tall
- Short dark brown hair
- Wearing a baseball cap, maroon T-shirt, and blue jeans
Investigators have also said they’re seeking additional information regarding a black BMW SUV that was seen in the same neighbourhood between 5:20 p.m. and 6 p.m., then later in the Newbury Drive area at around 8:50 p.m.
“As part of the investigation, officers are asking residents and motorists who were in the area and may have dash camera, residential security camera, or other video footage to review their recordings and submit any relevant footage,” said WRPS.
They’ve created two secure online portals for residents to submit videos regarding those recent incidents, specifically created for the Deer Ridge Drive area and the Newbury Drive area.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with details on the incidents, the suspect, or the vehicle in question is asked to reach out to WRPS at 519-570-9777, extension 8255.
