A fatal, multi-vehicle crash has halted traffic on Highway 6 just north of Guelph.
It was just after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday when Wellington County OPP shared news of that crash in the area of Highway 6 and Wellington Road 22.
While details surrounding the collision are still limited, police have since confirmed a 74-year-old from Fergus was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. An 82-year-old from Elora was transported to hospital with serious injuries, later airlifted to trauma centre via air ambulance.
Road closures have been put in place in the area as the OPP conduct their investigation, including:
- Highway 6 closed from Wellington Road 51 to 6th Line in Ennotville
- Wellington Road 22 / 8th Line closed from Campbell Road to Wellington Road 7
No estimated time for reopening has been provided – drivers are asked to avoid the area.
