A federal offender serving a life sentence and in breach of their release is now wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, with the man in question known to frequent Kitchener.
The details come from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROP) Squad, which is requesting help from the public in locating Mason Jenkins, a 49-year-old from Kingston.
According to OPP, Jenkins is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
He is said to have “walked away from the Collins Bay Institution on Sept. 24 in Kingston,” marked as missing during a formal inmate count that morning, leading to the Canada-wide warrant.
He was being held in a minimum-security facility at the time of the incident.
OPP has stated that Jenkins is known to frequent Kingston, Chatham, and Kitchener.
He was convicted of first-degree murder in 2001, tied to the death of his sister in Chatham back in January of 1998.
He is described as a Caucasian man, 49 years of age, 5’9″ (175cm), 255 lbs. (116kg), with brown eyes and brown hair, and is currently shaved bald.
Police are asking that anyone who has had contact with Jenkins or has information regarding his whereabouts contact the Provincial ROPE Squad at 1-866-870-7673 (ROPE) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or call 9-1-1.
