Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) has made an arrest in connection with a case of bank card fraud in Kitchener from almost two months ago, but said the search is still underway for a second suspect.
The incident was first reported back on Aug. 1, when officers were called about the use of a stolen bank card used at a business on Highland Road West.
Police said that two suspects were tied to the incident, saying they used the card to purchase over $400 in merchandise from the impacted store.
The incident led to a lengthy investigation, and now, almost into October, WRPS said that it’s led to the arrest of a 40-year-old woman from Kitchener.
She’s been charged with the unauthorized use of a credit card, but police say they’re still working to find the other suspect tied to the incident.
Regional police have identified 40-year-old Ramone Cooper as a person of interest in the case, saying he may have ties to the August incident.
“The whereabouts of Mr. Cooper are unknown and attempts by police to locate and arrest him have been unsuccessful,” said WRPS in a release.
Police are asking that anyone with information on the incident or details of the suspect’s whereabouts reach out to WRPS at 519-570-9777, extension 6399.
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Ramone Cooper, 40, wanted in connection to an ongoing bank card investigation in Kitchener.
