A break-and-enter suspect is still at large after fleeing a police stop in Woolwich Township.
It was on Wednesday morning around 7:15 when police were called to a reported break and enter in that township. Police say a male suspect broke into a residential construction site in the Bur Oak Drive area, stealing property.
An investigation revealed that suspect’s vehicle became stuck in mud when they attempted to leave the scene: the suspect is believed to have approached nearby homeowners looking for assistance, and was eventually pulled out of the mud.

Police arrived on scene and attempted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, though the driver instead chose to flee the area. Officers did not initiate a pursuit of that vehicle due to concerns for public safety.
Regional police are now looking for a Brown male in his 30s, roughly 5’8″ tall with a slim build and a black beard. At the time of the break-in, police say the suspect was wearing a sports windbreaker, jeans and a hat. The suspect vehicle is described as a maroon coloured Hyundai.
Anyone with information connected to the incident is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777, extension 6399.
