A serious head-on collision involving a sedan and a transport truck just north of Delhi has led to the death of a woman from Cambridge, with investigations into the cause of the incident still ongoing.
The details coming from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), which said the incident happened Tuesday, Oct. 13, at around 7 a.m., when officers were called about the two-vehicle crash on Brantford Road, between Windham Centre Road and Windham Road 7.
“I don’t have good news to report,” said Sergeant Ed Sanchuk with West Region OPP in a video posted to social media, taken at the scene.
“Norfolk County OPP, along with fire and paramedic services, responded to a head-on crash involving a commercial motor vehicle and a passenger vehicle. I’m sad to say that the driver of that passenger vehicle suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.”
The driver of the transport truck, meanwhile, was not injured in the incident.

While the identities of those involved have not been released, OPP has confirmed that the woman was a 25-year-old from Cambridge.
“I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank the good samaritans that stopped to provide assistance. You definitely made a very difficult situation just a little bit easier,” said Sanchuk.
“To the deceased’s family and friends, I want to send out my sincere and deepest condolences to each and every one of you as your family member is not coming home.”
While Sanchuk worked to provide details on the incident itself, he also had a message for a driver who attempted to go around the posted road closure sign, as the initial investigation and cleanup efforts were taking place.
“For the motoring public and especially the driver that ran into a ‘road closed’ sign, causing significant damage not only to the sign but to the side of their vehicle, you’re being encouraged to contact Norfolk County OPP to make a collision report,” Sanchuk stated.
“It’s best that you come and talk to us before we have to come and knock on your door.”
At this time, no further details have been released about the circumstances that led to the crash or if any charges are expected, all with the investigation still on the go.
Anyone with details on the crash, who saw what happened, or has dashcam footage of it, is asked to contact OPP.
