A motorist in Cambridge is facing a slew of offences after being pulled over for speeding, and an inspection of the vehicle revealed more than officers were expecting.
Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) detailing the incident, which happened Tuesday, Nov. 3, when officers stopped a driver on Bishop Street North in Cambridge after they were travelling 78 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
During the traffic stop, though, police said they uncovered much more that would lead to more than just those speeding charges.

“The vehicle had multiple safety concerns, including worn tires, loose lug nuts on one wheel, and a defective emergency brake system,” said WRPS in a post on social media.
“Plates and driver’s licence were seized, and the vehicle was towed.”
All in all, police said they uncovered:
- The driver’s license was suspended
- The vehicle was being operated without insurance
- The vehicle had improper plates
- There were no valid permits for the vehicle
- A list of safety concerns meant the vehicle was deemed to be unsafe
“Speeding is dangerous. Driving an unsafe, uninsured vehicle makes the risk even greater,” said WRPS.
“Help keep our roads safe by ensuring both your driving and your vehicle are road-ready.”
