The Kitchener Fire Department has had a busy start to their Friday, responding to what’s been described as a major incident at A Better Tent City.
According to the local fire department, “Fire crews responded to a fire involving three sheds at A Better Tent City at 5:28 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 24.”
They went into detail on the incident itself, saying the blaze appeared to have started on the exterior of one of the units.
“Damage was contained to three units,” the fire department said in a release.
“One unit is a full loss, and the other adjacent units have substantial surface and contents damaged.”
No injuries have been reported from the morning fire, with Kitchener Fire stating that both residents and firefighters alike are safe.
They said they are holding the scene for the time being, alongside efforts from Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS), with an investigation ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze.
