Some upsets, some landslides, some new faces, and some old.
The results are in following the 2026 Municipal Election on Monday, Oct. 26, with the region now getting its first look at who will represent them over the next four years.
The votes have been counted, and the unofficial results have been released across Waterloo Region for the list of mayor, councillor, and school board trustee positions.
Individual voter turnout numbers and ballot results can be found on each municipality’s website, including for:
- Region of Waterloo councillor results
- City of Cambridge results
- City of Kitchener results
- City of Waterloo results
- Township of North Dumfries results
- Township of Wellesley results
- Township of Wilmot results
- Township of Woolwich results
While the results themselves paint a picture of the thoughts and opinions of residents across much of the region, overall voter turnout still remained relatively low throughout Waterloo Region.
In the Tri-Cities, consisting of Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo, there were a combined 410,195 eligible voters for the 2026 municipal election.
However, just 104,594 ballots were cast across those three cities, meaning just 25.5 per cent of those eligible headed to the polls.
The largest turnout of the group in terms of percentages was seen in Waterloo, where close to 31 per cent cast their vote, a total of 29,171 ballots cast.
That was followed by Cambridge at 27 per cent with a total of 30,904 votes, and Kitchener rounding out the three with only 22 per cent of eligible voters making their opinions known, with 44,519 ballots cast.
