The search is underway for suspects tied to a shooting incident in downtown Kitchener, which has left one man in critical condition.
The details are coming from Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS), which said it was called early Sunday morning at around 2:10 a.m., told of gunshots in the area of Goudies Lane and Queen Street North.
Officers arrived on scene to find a 21-year-old man suffering serious injuries from a gunshot wound. He was transported to an out-of-region hospital for treatment, where officers say he still remains in critical condition.
“Investigators believe the incident was targeted,” said WRPS in a release.
“The suspects are described as three Black males who were seen fleeing the area in a white sedan, possibly a Mazda.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone who saw what happened or has footage related to the incident is asked to contact WRPS at 519-570-9777.
