Another week, another turbulent time at the pumps as gas prices have not just risen on Friday, but are expected to rise again on Saturday, leading to a combined 13-cent jump this weekend in Waterloo Region.
The details come from Canadians for Affordable Energy, which shows gas prices have climbed by as much as 7 cents on Friday to as high as $1.85.9 per litre.
That’s not all, though, as those prices are predicted to jump once again on Saturday by another 6 cents, bringing prices to a height of $1.91.9 oper litre.
It’s set to mark the largest back-to-back increase in months, and the largest gas prices have climbed to since May, when prices hit an average high of $1.92.9 per litre back on May 21.

It has continued the trend of turbulence at gas stations locally, all coming in the midst of heightened hostilities on the global stage, including the ongoing trade war between Canada and the U.S., alongside the ongoing war between the U.S. and Israel against Iran.
For motorists who rely on diesel, there’s a bit of good news in comparison, as even though gas prices have climbed 4 cents Friday, they’re expected to take a steeper drop on Saturday.
Canadians for Affordable Energy predicts those prices will drop by as much as 8 cents, to an average high of around $2.50.9 per litre, marking a rare decline for diesel as of late.
All in all, the turbulent times are set to continue at the pumps for the time being, with no real relief in sight as the calendar turns from September to October.
