A list of drug-related charges has been laid and weapons, including brass knuckles, have been seized, all tied to an ongoing drug initiative in Cambridge.
The details come from Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS), which launched an initiative earlier this year through its Crime Suppression, Analysis, and Response (CSAR) Unit.
Officers released details of an incident tied to the investigation back on Sept. 23, when officers attended a home in the area of Main Street and Wellington Street.
“As part of the investigation, officers seized suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine,” said WRPS in a release.
“Officers also seized brass knuckles and a prohibited knife.”
The on-site seizures led police to arrest a 46-year-old Cambridge man on site, who’s now facing a list of charges, including:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)
- Possession of a prohibited weapon (two counts)
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (two counts)
WRPS said its CSAR Unit is “committed to reducing crime and enhancing public safety through problem-oriented enforcement, targeted crime suppression, and prioritization of prevention and proactive measures for complex mental health and youth-related challenges.”
The suspect was held in custody for a bail hearing.
