The West Region OPP are reminding drivers on the 401 to pay attention to their surroundings, and to give road crews ample space, following a collision on Monday afternoon through Woodstock.
It was just after 2 p.m. when OPP responded to a crash involving two vehicles on the eastbound 401 at Towerline Road in Woodstock
In a post on social media, OPP Sergeant Ed Sanchuk said that crash involved a passenger vehicle and a Ministry of Transportation ‘crash truck’ parked in the fast lane of traffic. Sanchuk said road crews in the area report the passenger vehicle slammed into the back of the MTO vehicle at highway speeds.
“When you’re traveling, please make sure that you’re paying attention to your surroundings.” said Sanchuk. “Speaking to road crews out here and they’re telling me that drivers were attempting to pass them on the left-hand side, which is putting everyone in danger.”
The driver of the passenger vehicle was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the traffic services vehicle was also taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Drivers heading through Woodstock on the eastbound 401 can expect delays on Monday evening as the OPP investigation continues.
