Suspect found short distance away after robbery at Waterloo business

Charges have been laid against a man from Kitchener after Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) responded to a robbery at a business in Waterloo.

Officers said the incident happened Tuesday, Aug. 25, when they were called about a robbery at a business in the area of Fischer-Hallman Road and Erb Street West.

Investigators learned that a lone man entered the business, demanded money from the employees on site, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Not long after, officers said they were able to locate the suspect in question a short distance away, where they arrested him without incident.

No one is said to have been injured throughout the course of the matter, with regional police now saying it’s all led to charges for a 35-year-old Kitchener man.

He’s been charged with robbery along with other Criminal Code offences, and was held in custody for a bail hearing.
