WRPS make two arrests after targeted assault in North Dumfries

Two arrests have been made following investigations into an assault in North Dumfries, with Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) now believing it to be a targeted incident.

Officers said it happened on Sunday, Aug. 30, at around 10:40 a.m., when police were called about a reported assault involving two suspects in the area of John Carpenter Road and Robert Woolner Street in Ayr.

When emergency services arrived on scene, they found a victim suffering from minor physical injuries as a result of the incident.

Through the early investigation, police said that the victim was assaulted by a man and a woman who were armed with an edged weapon.

Officers have now determined that all the parties involved were known to one another, leading them to believe it was a targeted incident.

WRPS has since said they’ve arrested two suspects in connection with the reported assault, including a 23-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both from Burlington.

While the exact list of charges has not been released, regional police have stated that the two have been “charged with multiple criminal offences.”

The accused are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
