Charges laid after motorist drives through fence of Cambridge school

Charges have been laid against a driver in Cambridge after they crashed through a school fence, all while classes were still underway.

The details come from Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS), which said it all happened Tuesday, Sept. 15, at around 2 p.m., when reports came in of the crash on a stretch of Westminster Drive South.

Officers arrived on scene to find that a Honda Civic had left the roadway and crashed through a fence outside the local school.

Photos posted to social media show the vehicle still wrapped in the metal fencing and the vehicle pressed up against a tree.

WRPS noted in its release that “one individual was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries unrelated to the collision.”

As a result of the investigation, police have charged a 19-year-old Cambridge man with a series of charges, including:

• Careless Driving
• No Insurance
• Defective Brakes
• Fail to Surrender Driver’s Licence
