Victim attacked by group during hate-motivated assault in Kitchener

An investigation is ongoing, and the search is underway for a group of youths, all after a hate-motivated assault in Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) said it all happened Saturday, Sept. 12, at around 7:40 p.m., when officers received calls about a reported assault in the area of Mt. Hope Street and Eden Avenue.

Through the early investigation, police found that “The victim was approached by a group of 10 to 15 youths while outside their residence and was assaulted by four to five individuals.”

They added that, during the incident, the suspects allegedly directed racial slurs towards the victim, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the assault.

As of now, no further details have been revealed about the suspects in question, with the investigation still ongoing.
