A 17-year-old from Guelph has been charged one year after a fatal collision in Guelph-Eramosa Township, one that left an 18-year-old dead at the scene.
The details come from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), detailing the incident from back on Oct. 30, 2025, involving a single-vehicle crash on Eastview Road.
When emergency services arrived on scene, they found the vehicle had two occupants, including the driver, who had to be transported to a trauma centre in Hamilton with non-life-threatening injuries.
The other person inside, an 18-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time, police had to close off Eastview Road between Davis Street and Jones Baseline as the investigation got underway. That investigation continued through Wellington OPP and West Region OPP’s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team.
Now almost a full year later, Wellington County OPP said it has arrested and charged the driver, now a 17-year-old from Guelph, with dangerous operation causing death under the Criminal Code.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justin in Guelph at a future date.
The details of the youth involved will not be disclosed as it’s protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
