Regional police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a crash last week that sent a teenage cyclist to hospital – with the driver of the involved vehicle still at large.
It was on Wednesday around 4 p.m. when officers were called to the scene at the intersection of Highland Road West and Westmount Road East.
It’s alleged that a teen on a bike was struck by a vehicle, later identified as a blue Ford F-150. That vehicle failed to remain at the scene of the crash.
The cyclist, a 17-year-old Kitchener boy, was assisted by several witnesses on scene prior to police arrival. It’s believed that one of those witnesses drove the cyclist home to the area of Eagen Drive.

The teen was later transported to local hospital, said to have sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are now looking to speak with anyone that may have witnessed the crash, as well as any individuals who stopped to assist the cyclist and may have information about what happened.
Witnesses, including those with dash camera footage of the crash, are asked to contact police at 519-570-9777. extension 8856.
