The Kitchener Blues Festival is ready to take over the city’s downtown core – bringing three days of phenomenal musical performances beginning tonight.
The show kicks off with a fundraising concert in Victoria Park on Thursday – featuring performances from Bill Durst, Sass Jordan and the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
General admission tickets for Thursday’s fundraising concert are still available, with doors set to open at 5 p.m.
The weekend will feature performances across three main stages, a children’s stage, and a musical take over of venues in downtown Kitchener for the “12 Bar Blues” late night concert series. You can review the whole line-up here.
The majority of the weekend’s musical acts are free to enjoy – while the festival will be collecting donations at stations throughout the event space.
Those looking to experience the blues festival will want to be aware of a number of road closures now in place through downtown Kitchener along King Street West, as well as a closure of that roadway.

- Beginning Thursday:
- King Street West closed between Water Street North and Young Street
- College Street closed between King Street West and Duke Street West
- Gaukel Street closed between King Street West and Halls Lane West
- Jubilee Drive closed between David Street and Water Street South
- Beginning Friday:
- King Street closed between Water Street North and Frederick Street
- Ontario Street North closed between King Street West and Goudies Lane
- Ontario Street South closed between King Street West and Charles Street West
- Young Street closed between King Street West and Duke Street
Closures are expected to roll through the weekend, lifted by 9 a.m. on Monday morning.
